About Our Therapists
All of our therapists are very carefully selected for their qualifications, education, and expertise. All have a Master’s degree (or above) in counseling, and many have additional specialty training certifications. We have a diverse staff and a variety of locations. Some bilingual therapists are available, including therapists proficient in American Sign Language. Our office staff will work closely with you to provide the best match for your needs in a location near you. We guarantee your counselor match, so if you don’t feel a good connection with your counselor we will reschedule you with another one without losing any sessions.
Q. Why is there no list of your counselors on your website?
At Far West we think the selection of your therapist is critical to the success of your therapy and is best made in a confidential conversation with you about your needs and issues. Our schedulers know each of our therapists and their strengths very well and, therefore, can provide you the best match.
"I have gone to marriage counselors in the past who tried to tell me who I was, instead of listening to who I am and working with the parts that need adjusting. Thank you, he is a good fit."
Far West client
The population we serve today is very diverse in terms of race, religion, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. At Far West Family Services we respect and appreciate the diversity in our client base and are sensitive to cultural differences when working with our clients. If you have any concerns or questions about how your specific needs or issues might be addressed, please let us know and we will do whatever we can to accommodate you and match you with the right therapist for your needs. Our staff and therapists are trained regarding cultural issues and, regardless of their own personal background, they will be helpful, supportive, and respectful to you and your family and customize your treatment plan so that it is consistent with your cultural beliefs and practices. We are also happy to match you with a counselor of color. Please let us know.
Many people are concerned that therapy will conflict with their religious values. Nothing could be further from the truth. We acknowledge and work closely with clients to honor their individual belief systems, just as we honor all forms of diversity. Rest assured that you can be completely open with your counselor about your religious beliefs and know you will be respected. Additionally, you can provide information to the counselor regarding how your religious beliefs are impacting your current situation, so that together you can build a treatment plan that works with your religious values. Remember, counseling is about helping you reach your goals in a healthy way. You can also request a Christian counselor.

We may also have a counselor in your area who is identified as LGBTQ and interested in working with clients around issues of coming out, gender identification, workplace issues, relationships, and more. Just ask the scheduler for more information when you call.
