Far West Family Services was founded in 1978 by Judith Briscoe, LMHC, one of the earliest providers of employee assistance programs in the greater Seattle area. Upon her retirement in 2002, Far West was purchased by Katie Frisbie, MS, LMHC and Diana Nielsen, MA. Far West has almost exclusively provided EAP services for school districts in Washington state. Other clients include small government agencies and fire districts.
Far West is committed to providing the highest quality mental health and crisis response services for our clients, the schools, and the agencies we work for.
Our clinical director, Katie Frisbie, (she/her) graduated from the Counseling program at Seattle University and became a part-time counselor with Far West soon after graduating, while also working in the Employee Assistance Program for a large Seattle corporation. She is also trained as a crisis responder and has facilitated hundreds of crisis and trauma debriefings. She also enjoys providing mental health and organizational development trainings for our clients.
Diana Nielsen, (she/her) our business manager and scheduling manager, has a long background in managing small and non-profit organizations. She handles the day-to-day operations of Far West and especially enjoys talking to every client on the phone. Trained in mental health triage, Diana is committed to understanding each client's needs and making a match with the therapist who can best serve their needs.
"I want to thank you for your help on site and your proactive practical support – the handouts, letters, etc. – these things helped me to deal with a sudden and unexpected tragedy in our school and allowed me to provide the type of leadership for our school community that I knew had to happen. I appreciate your patience and sensitivity to my own grieving process."
