Children today are faced with a variety of challenging issues at school, at home and in the community. Many parents seek help in supporting their children to deal with self-esteem, anger, peer-pressure, anxiety, drugs and alcohol, fears, divorce, death of a loved one, trouble with homework or classmates at school, ADD and ADHD and other issues that can lead to depression or acting out behavior.

Our therapists are prepared to work with you and your children to develop the tools necessary to face tough issues, resolve family conflicts, improve parenting strategies, and change self-defeating behaviors, which will make life better for your child and the entire family. For very young children we may use play and art therapy techniques to assist them with processing their feelings and modifying behavior.

Many older youth find themselves in very dangerous or difficult situations. Peer pressure is strong and can lead to low self-esteem, eating disorders, depression or anxiety. Don’t wait until things get serious; get your adolescent help at the first sign of trouble. With the easy availability of drugs and alcohol many young people are getting caught in a vicious cycle of self-defeating behaviors. Others may engage in illegal or violent behaviors, and can become depressed or even suicidal. If you suspect your child is struggling with these issues or just seems to be off track (e.g. low motivation, under achieving), we recommend you call Far West Family Services for help for yourself and your family.
